Chances are pretty good that your veterinarian’s office mails you a friendly reminder every year that it’s either time for Tiger’s annual check up or annual vaccinations. How nice of them, right? How many of us just toss that nice piece of mail in the trash and forget about it?

One of my original veterinary heroes, Dr. Randy Wysong, is bringing suit against the major manufacturers of pet food. The claim: misleading consumers with eye catching labels that make it look like that kibble you’re buying is really healthy, expensive human grade food.

A friend of mine contacted me this week to introduce me to her rescue cat, Liz Taylor. She’s a Bengal mix, born with a hip problem believed to be due to breeding, and she’s got the feline herpes virus 1. With health challenges like these it’s not surprising to learn that Liz is a bit shy and probably a little moody. After all, when you don’t feel good…well, we’ve all been there. I offered to do some muscle testing of her diet, and you’ll be blown away by the results!

I know the topic of annual vaccinations for pets can be very controversial, but I truly feel in my heart that apart from learning to read and understand pet food labels, getting the facts about vaccines and immunology is one of the most important things you can do.  It will help you decide, as your pet’s guardian, what truly is in his best interest.
