Did you know that cancer is a man-made disease?  Did you know that it’s NOT a genetic disease based on genetic mutations like the cancer community would lead you to believe?  That’s been the prevailing dogma for decades, despite the fact that new light has now been shed on this fallacy.  It’s actually a metabolic disease. 

For most of us who are owned by cats we will most likely face some type of cat health issue at some point in its life. While these circumstances are rarely inexpensive, convenient, or painless, I am learning to look at them as an opportunity to learn. My cats have taught me so many things over the years, and just like with human experiences, we tend to learn the most through the struggles and times of trial.

Knowing what I’ve learned over the past several years about the dark side of the pet food industry it’s no surprise at all to see how certain pet food companies have made alliances with veterinarian professionals. These companies, along with pharmaceutical companies, wield incredible influence on the curriculum taught at vet schools, too. In the end it’s all about business.

With so many pet foods on the market today, how do you know which ones are really good? Can you trust this brand or that brand? What are their values, and how do you know if their ingredients are top notch or not?

Getting old is not for the weak of heart. Things don’t work the same, they don’t feel the same, and life becomes more challenging. Most people are probably used to living with some type of pain on a regular basis. We become so used to taking “stuff” to mask it that the thought of eliminating the cause doesn’t even cross our minds. I would guess this assessment is true for about 80% of the population. Sadly, our pets’ aging is resembling that of humans more and more.
