Following a Different Path
It’s been a rough week for Rocket. If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile you’ll no doubt recall that over the months we’ve been trying to get to the bottom of and treat the cause of Rocket’s chronic nasal congestion. Our most recent efforts included working with a veterinary homeopath out of Denver. We seemed to be having some success…and then we digressed.

Check Up or Check Out?
Chances are pretty good that your veterinarian’s office mails you a friendly reminder every year that it’s either time for Tiger’s annual check up or annual vaccinations. How nice of them, right? How many of us just toss that nice piece of mail in the trash and forget about it?

Flaky Floof: Cats With Dandruff
My friend, Lisa, asked me recently what to do about her cat Puff’s flaky skin. Puff will be eight years young this year, and she tends to wear the furry pants in this cat family. She’s also long-haired, so Lisa tries to keep her coat shaved to avoid matting. Did I also mention that Puff likes to eat?

Feline IBD Battle
This past week I got a text from my aunt. Her cat, Allie, of seventeen and a half years went to the vet because she was losing weight and despite being hungry, she would sniff the food and turn away. Does Your Cat think Outside The Box?
Years ago our boys started to pee standing up. If you can envision the “standard” style litter box you can already imagine the disaster that resulted. We had cat pee on the floor, on the wall–everywhere except in the litter box!

A Mom’s Intuition
How to cure a UTI in cats We had another scare with Lili this week. The day did not start well. If it wasn’t bad enough that my alarm clock didn’t wake me up on time, Tuesday morning I woke up to discover that Lili had wet the bed. She had another UTI. UGH! I […]

Legacy & Life Expectancy Of Cats
Have you ever thought about your cat’s heritage? Most of us probably never met our cat’s feline mom or dad, and we just don’t give it much thought. While some of our cat’s health conditions may be genetic, there’s a new thought coming mainstream that genetic expression can be controlled through nutrition and what they’re “not” exposed to.

Pet Food Companies Sued
One of my original veterinary heroes, Dr. Randy Wysong, is bringing suit against the major manufacturers of pet food. The claim: misleading consumers with eye catching labels that make it look like that kibble you’re buying is really healthy, expensive human grade food.
