Many of my friends are already suffering from all the pollen.  It’s everywhere!   Cats can suffer from seasonal allergies, and boy can they be miserable!  Rather than put your cat on pharmaceutical drugs that are toxic and laden with side effects, I’ll give you several suggestions that take a more natural approach.

Down here in Houston, Texas it’s not uncommon to hear people complain about their allergies.  Even cats can develop allergies not only to airborne irritants but to the ingredients in their food.  How do you know if your cat has a food allergy?  What are the symptoms and the most common ingredients that can lead to food allergies in cats?  And what can you do about them?

Seasonal allergies can wreak havoc–not just on people but cats too.  Down here in Houston, Texas, allergies due to pollens, mold and pollution can be very problematic.  In our household of five cats Rocket is the one who is the most sensitive to all these airborne irritants. 

Appearances can be deceiving and pet food marketing messages are ultimately about getting people to spend money.  Pet food companies are counting on the fact that as cat parents we know nothing about feline nutrition and it should be left up to them to tell us what to feed our cats.  The waters can be very muddied indeed, and it’s about to get even muddier. 

Six months ago Hershey was having some challenges with feline hyperthyroidism along with elevated liver enzymes.  Lately he’s been very hit and miss with his appetite, so I finally broke down and took him in for another check up not long ago.  The vet and I agreed it was time to put him on meds to help control the hyperthyroidism.
